Apply for a Grant:
Purpose:
The Institute for Basic and Applied Research in Surgery (IBARS) is seeking proposals from residents in surgical disciplines and faculty in surgical disciplines with innovative and creative projects that will result in surgical innovation and research.
IBARS will fund three $25,000.00 each yearly grants that will run from July 1 to June 30th of the subsequent year. IBARS will grant funds to groups/researchers that submit proposals through this (Request for Proposal) process.
Funds May Be Used For:
Technology or tools that would promote surgical innovation
Research that is primarily in a surgical discipline performed by surgeons
Salary support up to $12,500.00 for technicians and/or faculty
Research supplies
Database access and statistical support
Funds Will Not Be Used For:
Ongoing Operational Costs of one’s Division or Department
Personal funds to individuals
Stipends to Families
Indirect Costs
How to Apply:
Applications MUST be submitted electronically no later than January 31 of the grant year. Individuals are encouraged to submit proposals prior to the deadline.Funded projects will receive grant monies by May 1 of the grant year for a start date of the research project on July 1 of the grant year. Individuals may reapply for funding only once over each five-year cycle if funded. Individuals who are not awarded a grant are encouraged to re-apply the subsequent year.
